Bangkok Grand Palace dress code

Hi, There’s a lot of conflicting advice on the correct dress code for the Grand Palace, I understood that for women it was ok to wear a dress as long as knees are covered but I’ve since read a trip report where the lady said that her midi dress didn’t meet the cut and she had to rent pants. I was planning on wearing a midi dress as it will be cooler than trousers but I’m now thinking maybe better to go with trousers or buy a maxi dress. There’s also conflicting info on shoes, some say as long as sandals have a heel strap they’re fine, others say shoes have to be closed. I’ve scanned the internet but can’t seem to find answers, even the palace website is vague about this. Hopefully someone here will be able to help.
thanks in advance.

I wore a pair of linen pants from Athleta that were very lightweight and comfortable and sporty Teva sandals.

Thanks wtm003, Yes, I think the best option is lightweight trousers.
