Road trip from Fernie / Cranbrook to Vancouver

Hello
I'd like to get some help in planning my trip, i don't know anything about BC.

Basically i will already be in Fernie, and i will have to drive to Vancouver. It will be between July 13th to July 19th.
We will be with young kids from 2 to 8 years old, so we want to mix adventure/hiking/resting/activities.

Do you a road trip idea for these 7 days ?
Someone told me I could do:
1) Yoho Park (not too many tourists ? ): 3 days
2) Kelowna: 2 days
3) Vancouver : 2 days

But i don't know if there would be other things to do in between or if the duration is adapted.

I'm open to any other recommendation and advice

Thanks all

Where are you visiting from?

Out of curiosity, if you know nothing about BC, why are you planning such a trip? I'll write back shortly with recommendations (I've got a lot of ideas) but I'm simply curious as to what motivated you to travel here without any knowledge of the place. My guess is that surely you know something.

In the meantime, the official tourism website for BC is www.hellobc.com. They have a good selection of road trip itineraries, here: British Columbia Road Trips | Super, Natural BC. This would be the route I would recommend (in reverse order): Rainforest to Rockies: Crowsnest Highway 3 to the Canadian Rockies | Super, Natural BC and I would recommend stopping in Nelson for a few nights after Fernie, and Osoyoos instead of Kelowna after Nelson, before making your way into Vancouver.

hello

yeah it seems strange to start my trip in Fernie lol. In fact I’m travelling from France and I will fly to Calgary then drive straight to Fernie for a week of family reunion. Since we didn’t want to fly so long for just a week we have been thinking to extend our visit , for one week in the nature but towards Vancouver , the third week we will go to Seattle from there.
So yeah I really know nothing about BC ( I only used to go to Toronto or Montreal) 🤣

By the way I don’t know what’s best : train or ferry to cross the border from Vancouver to Seattle ? I can’t go by car because I have found any car rental company that will allow me to rent in Calgary and return the car in the US…

thanks for your first feedbacks !

That makes sense.

There is no ferry between Vancouver and Seattle as they are both on the same side of the land. You can take the train, but there is only one train departure (Amtrak) per day. There are countless buses connecting Vancouver to Seattle, however. You can also fly.

I don't have a suggestion for a car rental other than to book with a major car rental agency (i.e. Avis, Budget, National, Enterprise, etc.). Look up what the one-way drop off fee will be.
