Sights between Calgary and Fernie and Fernie and Waterton

I’ve booked a trip for early September, arriving in Calgary and driving to Fernie for three nights before heading to Waterton four nights. Is there anything interesting or beautiful I should check out along the way between these locations?

If travelling on 22 we stopped at the Bar U Ranch historic site on our way from Calgary to Waterton, found it very interesting.

The best sight in Fernie is when standing at the grocery store checkout counter. The scenery is mind-boggling to those who for a lifetime have been conditioned to be staring at National Enquirer, US Magazine and overpriced quick-grab candy in such settings.

You can stop by Canmore while traveling from Calgary to Fernie for breathtaking views and outdoor activities. Kananaskis, west of Calgary, there is this stunning area, for outdoor enthusiasts with its hiking trails, mountain views, and picturesque lakes like Barrier Lake and Upper Kananaskis Lake. Visit the Waterton Lakes National Park while you are in Waterton. If you are interested, take a boat cruise to Waterton lake, and hike to spots like Crypt Lake or Cameron Falls.

I appreciate the responses. Brian, I have been to Canmore a couple of years in a row. As much as I love it there, that would take me way out of the way and double the drive time. I’m researching places to stop that are on the more direct route to Fernie.
