How can I avoid a convenience charge during an air ticket booking?

Hi,

I am about to book a United Airlines ticket but before that, I want to know how can I avoid a convenience charge during an air ticket booking.

I've never heard of a convenience charge for a plane ticket. Are you sure the website you are using is actually United's? You should be on www.united.com.

If you're booking on the phone there is always an extra charge.

Welcome to Fodors. What country are you in?? India or someplace else in south Asia? it sounds like you may be using a third party travel agent like IRCTC. If so and they charge a convenience fee -- that's how they make money so doubt if you can avoid ir..

I also haven't heard of a convenience fee when booking in North America --

There is always a fee with United in Canada and the US if you call to book. For no fee book online.
