TSA Pre-Check renewal - less than 24 hours

Just an FYI
I almost let mine lapse. Did a renewal and was thankful my flight was on the 31st and not the 1st. Submitted my renewal online and was renewed in less than 24 hours.

Just in case anyone else forgets to check - like me.

I just applied for Pre-check for the first time. Appointment was at 9:15 am; I got the approval notification the next day at 1:15 pm.

Just to update the timeline on renewals, for those interested. On January 26th, I received a notice that one of our Global Entry memberships was due to expire.

Not sure if it was mine, DH, or son's, I went that morning to the bank that morning to get into the safe deposit box. Bank had a safe deposit vault alarm issue, so couldn't get in.
Tried again on the 27th and got in. Turns out it was MY membership that expires, but not until July. However, since we are planning a big trip abroad in May and June, I got a little nervous, especially hearing about delays in getting the renewal and possibly having to reinterview.

Reapplied on the 27th. For those who haven't done this since the website was changed over to a 2-step process, keep that in mind. Fortunately the last time I did this, I had to go through this process and also fortunately, I wrote down my password and remembered where I wrote it down!

Approved (without interview) on the 29th!

One of the questions that's asked is, other than US, Canada, and Mexico, where have I traveled abroad from January, 2017 to the present. It wasn't so easy looking at the passport for that info in the electronic age, where entries, exits, and visas are all done online! All I had was England and France (having taken Eurostar to France from London). It was relatively easy for me to remember the last 5 years of traveling abroad since two of those years we've been stuck in the U.S. Going forward, I may just write the info down in my passport as I enter and exit countries abroad to keep a record! (And yes, you are permitted to do this!).

I renewed my Global Entry which includes TSA Pre Check early too, just as COVID arrived.
Can’t wait to travel again!

Thanks. I have to renew my global entry in June and got the same email reminder. I just sent my passport off for renewal so was going to do the GE next. I am not sure when I will use it but like having the pre TSA included and have a rescheduled domestic trip in July. So hopefully I can do it all before than and it sounds like it shouldn’t be a problem.

My Global Entry renewal came due last summer - I submitted the form on July 21 and received the renewal the morning of July 22.

Further update: the actual card arrived a week later. Once arrived, the card itself needs to be activated by going back through the portal. If you don't activate it, it doesn't exist in the system per the little note attached to the card.

When I renewed I received an e-mail that I wouldn't receive a new card (I now see I mis-spoke in my earlier post - I didn't renew in July '21 but in July '20). It may be that back earlier in the pandemic they had suspended issuing new cards. Which might also explain why my renewal took less than 24 hours.

I use my Global Entry card as my REAL ID because getting an enhanced driver's license would have been a hassle.
