Four of us will be travelling by car from Trogir to Plitvice area on June 4th, 2018. What would you consider to be the best and most scenic route. We are spending 2 nights in the Plitvice area so we are not in a big rush. I understand that Skradin is a beautiful place to stop but notice it's not on the toll route. Also wonder about Sibenik, but what is the parking situation like there? It will be our first day of driving, having taken buses up to then.

You might consider choosing your route on the basis of what you want to see. I thought Skradin a pleasant little place for an hour or so while visiting the Krka National Park – which would require an investment of a chunk of time. I think Sibenik seriously under-rated, but then, my interests might differ from yours. I think there’s a big parking lot somewhere around Sibenik, but I didn’t have a car when I visited. Have you used google maps, and asked for parking options?

Sibenik is underrated for sure. So are the Islands in the Kvarner Bay.

We are wondering about taking the coastal road to Zadar and then go inland to Plitvice. This takes a lot longer than the motorway so wondering if it is worthwhile.

My memory could be failing me, but I don't remember the road north of Sibenik as one that was particularly interesting.
