I'm looking for the best scenic route from Scotland to Wales with some neat things for kids to see or do. Suggestions on accomodations for a family of 6 would be helpful too (camping is an option). Looking at a app a 2-4 day trip, depending what there is to do. We are leaving from Biggar, Scotland and heading to lladridod Wells, Wales.

Plenty to fill 4 days, or longer. The Lake District, Chester, Shrewsbury (and perhaps Liverpool if you want a really interesting big city+Beatles connections).

When is this trip? Bank Holidays and such can make the Lakes a bit of a problem.

North Wales for castles, beaches and mountains. Is there a particular reason for making for Llandrindod Wells? There isn't much to recommend the town and it's not in the most attractive part of Wales.

We are visiting friends in Biggar, Scotland and traveling to Wales to visit friends in Llandrindon Wells. I am trying to plan out a route to go from one place to the next. I thought of the Lake District and I would like to see Hadrians Wall. I figure once we get to our friends in LW we can visit places around Wales. We are going in August.

From Biggar, I'd stay 1 night somewhere like Haltwhistle. Would give you about 1.25 days to explore the Wall. Then two nights in the central Lake District (but you'd need to book well in advance, especially w/ a party of 6) like near Grassmere/Ambleside.

Then if you have another day to play w/ -- either: add it at the front end and stay in Dumfries/Galloway; or stay in Chester between the Lakes and Wales.

What is your budget and is this 6 adults, 2 adults and 4 kids, or ?? Makes a difference re possible recommendations.

I'm biased but I'd say call in on the Lake District and spend your time there. There's lots to see and do here, and it's one of the most scenic parts of the country, if not the most scenic. It would also break up your journey quite nicely, being about halfway along the route.

If your kids like the idea of seeing real castles - do some of the castles in Northern Wales. I particularly recommend Conwy - since the whole town has a nice medaeval feel to it.

It is a family of 2 adults and 4 daughters (5-12). Budget is minimal. We are thinking of staying at a campground in a wigwam to save a little money.

With daughters that age, you might enjoy visiting Hilltop, Beatrix Potter's cottage, in the Lake District. We drove through that area too fast, wishing we had more time to do a little hiking and enjoy the scenery.

As xanthippe mentions, the area really does warrant more than a couple of days. (Bear in mind that you've got a lengthy journey either side of your stop, too.)

There's lots for children in the area. As well as Hill Top, there's also the World of Beatrix Potter Museum in Bowness-on-Windermere. Both are just 20 mins or so from me.
