Questions about where to stay in Andalucia and Nerja

We are trying to finalize our trip to Andalucia the last two weeks of May with two toddlers and i have a few more questions.

is a full week in Nerja too long? Is there enough to do in the area that time of year?

We will be flying into Malaga plan to spend a few days in that area then head to Seville for a few days before heading to Nerja. We will have a rental car. Any reccomendations of where to base ourselves in the Malaga area for those first few days? Any suggestions of a good place to stay in Seville? We are looking at apartments for the ease of the children.

Thanks

You're really thinking of driving a rental car into Sevilla?

Do you have a budget?

A week in Nerja is too long. It's okay, you can go to the beach. If I was from England or Ireland I might like it a lot more. Seville and Granada are my favorite places. I also love the old part of Malaga and Cadiz too. One to two nights are enough. Cars are a major hassle in Seville and Granada. If you're set on having one it's best to find a parking garage and leave it. Expect to pay 20 euros a night. Take a cab to your hotel. Santa Cruz is the oldest, most charming area in Seville. Macarena is also good if you can't find an apt. in Santa Cruz.

In Nerja we stayed at the Hotel Paraiso Del Mar. On the Med and very nice. Breakfast buffet was great! We stayed two days and thought that was enough to relax by the water and get a feel for the city before heading to Granada where we dropped off our car. I was happy not to have to navigate that city. We flew to Madrid cheaply to get to our final flight home.

I suggest you stay in Málaga city itself for the first couple of days. A great city with a vibrant Andalusian atmosphere. "Malaga: Authentic charm of an overlooked treasure": http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/ci...-treasure.html

The Murillo apartments in the Santa Cruz district in Sevilla might be a good option: http://www.booking.com/hotels/hotel/....html#calender

In Nerja, I suggest you stay in or around the seafront Calle Carabeo. The oldest street in town, right in the center and close to the Balcón de Europa. Some of the apartments on this list will be in this area (Carabeo, Tuhillo and Verde Mar). Las Palmeras and Acapulco Playa apartments would also have a great location.

Ideal time of year to be in Nerja, relaxed and not too many tourists. I don't think a week is too long, would allow you time to wind down after some presumably hectic city days. Plenty of things to do. http://www.nerjatoday.com/thingstodo/
Suggest you get a taste of the local culture by going for the great lunch offers (menu del día) in one of the restaurants outside the most obvious tracks. These would all be good options (and great with kids): La Puntilla, Los Cuñaos or La Marina:

If you plan on staying less than a week in Nerja, the ideally located Toboso apartments might be what you're looking for: http://www.tobosoaparthotel.com/

Many of these apartments are located in the great Old town area in the center of Málaga: http://www.epsmalaga.com/en/apartments-malaga.htm
