Hiway 6 or 26 from Portland to Manzanita
Leaving DT Portland (in the morning) Tuesday Oct 13 for Manzanita and returning to Portland Thursday OCt 15. Need to be at Amtrak station by 12:30 p.m. Which route do you recommend? Heard lots of construction close to Portland. What do you think? Thanks.

Yeah, I agree with mms (no surprise there ;-) ). Portland to Manzanita via hwy 26 is 5-10 miles shorter than hwy 6, and probably 15-30 minutes faster. But, there's some great scenery along hwy 6: http://www.pbase.com/smg9774/image/40203739. So, why not take your time on the way to Manzanita (could also do part of Three Capes Scenic Loop), then use the quicker hwy 26 back into Portland. With normal traffic, it should take about two hours. I've been on both hwys 6 & 26 within the last couple months, and am not aware of any big construction projects on either. With normal traffic

I guess there are no yummy restaurants on this route or there would have been a post about that too ? lol ...
The only times we hit traffic on 26 was when logging trucks got in the way. That always seemed to happen around Camp 18 ...to 101..
Have a wonderful time, GJLinda !! I miss Portland today :- )
