Klagenfurt -- Family-friendly Gasthof?

I am looking for recommendations for a nice, clean Gasthof with local charm to stay near Klagenfurt in August, for approx 1 week. We are a family of 4 (2 children, ages 3 & 8), and are travelling with my sister-in-law + family (4 people) and my in-laws (2). We all speak some German and are looking for a place that is clean, accepting of children and (hopefully!) not too expensive! A good restaurant would also be a real plus!

Thanks for your help.

My friend lives in St. Veit/Glan which is very near to Klangenfurt.
She says there is a very nice Gasthol named Besold between the two cities. It has a nice kitchen and she believes it is very reasonable.
I don't know how easily you will be able to get internet information about the inn.
By the way, I spent two weeks with her in St. Veit last June. It is a charming area.
She took me to many fine restaurants but I speak no German and do not really remember the names. Sorry.
St. Veit warrants a stop. I stayed at the White Lamb (the English translation of course). It is in the center of St. Veit and is very reasonable and the kitchen isn't bad. They have parking.
The area is lovely.
Have a wonderful trip.

I had a car so I do not know how well you can get to these places by public transportation.
Maria Worth
Maria Saal
Burg Hochorsterwitz
Friesach

These are some of the places I visited and found interesting.
I was limited in touring because I needed a knee replacement so it was mosttly a lovely relaxing vacation enjoying the scenery and people.

Enjoy.

Thanks. We will have a car, so that will not be a problem. This is one area of Austria I have not been to, any recommendations appreciated.

Well, I thought the area was lovely. I just wished that I could have walked more.
We only went to Klagenfurt to do some shopping, so no opinions about the town although it was very pleasant with a pedestian area.
I cheated on that trip because my friend just took me places and I did not notice the directions because I didn't have to.
We attented a concert in Maria Saal and it was so lovely. I think they have a regular series of concerts there (it was June).
And I also enjoyed the church at Gurk.

I hope to return this June(new knee and all).
I just remember how clean and lovely it was in the area. There weren't many people in St Veit that spoke English. But the people were very friendly.
The roads are very good and easy to drive. We wanted to go up into the mountains, but there was still snow in the higher elevations and my friend was uncomfortable taking me there.
