Puget Sound + wineries
WE are planning an 8 day trip to the NW in Sept. We want to combine wine tasting with scenery, a few hikes and good food. Can someone help us decide if the puget sound wineries would be a good choice.

The biggest concentration of wineries in the Puget Sound area is in Woodinville. Info would be in the Seattletimes.com. There is a paved walkway from Marymore Park by Lake Sammamish which goes to lake Washington. Bring your skates!

Check out nwsource.com and go to entertainment for the Eastside. Chateau Ste. Michelle has outdoor concerts and is close to Columbia Winery--both are excellent and have beautiful locations. You can also rent a bike if you don't skate.
There's also a dinner train that goes to the Columbia Winery called the Spirit of Washington. Food's just so-so, but scenry is good.
There's also a small winery just by the ferry dock in Bainbridge Island that has beautiful gardens...forgot the name, but anyone would know if you take the ferry over.
Have a great trip.
Also, there is a Van Gogh show at the Seattle Art Museum if you like art that goes through Sept. 12 (can get tickets on line at Seattleartmuseum.org).

I would suggest a stay in the Columbia Gorge with some waterfall day hikes and remarkable scenic beauty. Skamania Lodge or the Bonneville Hot Springs Resort are great spots. Then continue east following the Lewis & Clark Expedition route and stay a couple of days in Walla Walla. If Abeja is in your price range, stay there (http://www.abeja.net/)
