Isla Morada

We (2 adults) are planning to visit Isla Morada in winter 2027. We were wondering if AirBNB was a better choice for accomodations in that area. If a hotel or resort is recommended, is there one specific location that would provide a restful visit with access to nice restaurants. Thanks.

Sue54,
I’m thinking you’re referring to Islamorada in the Florida Keys. I’ve never stayed there we’ve just driven through and have stopped at a view restaurants on our way in or out of the lower keys.

Lorelei’s is a nice waterfront restaurant it has the best coconut shrimp.

The Islamorada Brewery has my favorite beer. Their beer garden has a waterfront location and food trucks.

As far as lodging if you are staying a month or more I would recommend a house rental. Unless we are camping or only staying for a week we always get a house.

Good luck on your search. The Keys are a wonderful place to spend time in the winter.

For a number of years we would spend a week at THE MOORINGS, on Islamorada. This is a "diffuse" resort with a wonderful heated pool, a stretch of beach (not great for swimming but free paddle boards, boats, etc) and a collection off small cottages with kitchen facilities....walkable to the main road where there are eating spots--mostly expensive but a few spots (gas station with great fried chicken).....I've not been in about 8 years so many changes have probably occurred but I highly recommend this accommodation...it's been featured in many fashion shoots and is really gorgeous and very private. There are cottages in various price points but all are really pretty, set into foliage with orchids, etc.........

We would stock up on the drive at a super market to buy supplies..and visit a fish market when we wanted to grill fish...each cabin has a BBQ...total relation and very private. The opposite of the nearly Cheeca Lodge which used to draw many conventioneers..the Keys have undergone a lot of change in recent years..not sure if that's for the better or not......
