Request for help from airline experts here, please
Hello!!
No doubt many of you know how daunting the planning of airline flights is for me. I am prepared to do my research but maybe you all can point me in the right direction. One factor to keep in mind is that I do not want to book with a third-party entity like Expedia.
Because I want to book directly with the airlines, I am seeking guidance in how to book the following flights for mid-May of this year. Strong preference is for direct flights.
Outward: NYC area airports to Naples
Return: Bari to NYC. ( a few months ago we flew Bari to JFK but had to change at FCO; but I think there are direct flights now....
Who do I go to for this---ITA? United? (never flown the latter)
At this point, the milage programs are secondary to the convenience.
I'd appreciate any help, as I think that time is getting short and I ought to have done this weeks ago....
Many thanks..

United has daily nonstops from Newark to Naples in mid-May, and nonstops from Bari to Newark 4 times a week (Tu, Th, Sa, Su.). It's a simple open-jaw route; use the "multi-flight" (or similar titled) option on United's website.

Delta has nonstops JFK to Naples. Return would be Bari-Rome on ITA and the Delta to JFK
Here is a fare search you can use, just change the dates: New York to Naples | Google Flights

Ok..I did more searching. I "forgot" to mention that we want business class. I did find non-stops on United, but they are twice as expensive as the one-stops on ITA.
If I wanted to combine a Delta direct to NAP with an ITA return (change FCO) from BRI, how would I book that since the two carriers are no longer partners?
A million thanks for your help, as always!

The Delta website shows connections in AMS and CDG for the return from BRI.
The return I mentioned above was ITA to Rome and then Delta to JFK.
To answer your question, you would select the flights you want using the search I gave above (after changing dates and class of service). This website then shows booking options, in this case "Book with Delta". Then it sends you to delta dot com.
This is what I get:
Trip from New York | Google Flights
What are your travel dates? Delta shows $8600+ with a stop in AMS on return. I did see $3721 but on Turkish, connecting Istanbul both ways (that would be a great city for an enroute stopover).

I'd love to fly Turkish but the stopover would not be approved by the travel partner!
Dates are: Out 16 May. Return 4 June
You are amazing!!
