Windsor Castle transportation

I thought I better start a new post specific to transportation to Windsor Castle. The 10 of us plan to visit the castle on Monday, March 16. we will probably not be ready to leave London before 9AM. We are staying at 18-21 N Umberland Ave (Citadine Trafalgar). I looked at the Omio site and it looks like I was only able to select 9 passengers and for the 9 passengers it was $92. We would need to take the tube to Paddington. The tickets we will need are as follows: 2 seniors, 3 adults and 5 children ages 9,11,14,15,17. Is that the best price I can get or is there a different way I should do this. Is this the best route via Paddington? Which site do you recommend to book and do we need to book in advance? I think there are 2 different locations to get off to visit the catle, is there one you recommend?
Thank you,

Northumberland is all one word!
Train from Waterloo to Windsor and Eton Riverside is perhaps your easiest route

thanks for the correction. I looked at the national rail site and I can only book 9 tickets, how can I book 10 tickets without 2 different transactions. which site do you recommend?

I'm not sure you even need to book tickets from Waterloo to Windsor and Eton tbh. I am not sure there is an advantage in doing so, but Janis, and others, will know more about that.
Have a look at https://tfw.wales/ways-to-travel/rai...s/group-travel
Unless you have a senior railcard you pay the same as any other adult,

Don't worry about it being Transport for Wales - they cover all of the UK.

The advantage of Windsor and Eton is it is right by the castle.

Easy - Either book 2 or 3 transactions (booking is not actually necessary as heti mentioned) or wait til the day and get tickets at the station.

is there a reason the idea of doing two transactions puts =you off?

any suggestions of where to eat in the area that we would able to walk to. Thought I would get reservations since there will be 10 of us. We probably are not interested in Indian or Chinese, otherwise everything is fine.

janisj, do you have any idea how much it would cost for Uber from 18-21 NorthUmberland? I assume we will need 2 cars for the 10 of us. if it is not much more than public transportation for the 10 of us then we may that there and then do public transportation back to the city

Sorry -- can't really help. I've never used uber in London (and probably never will). But since they use dynamic pricing it would vary depending on time/traffic/availability plus time of day determines if the congestion charge is imposed.

I'd check just airports and other flat-rate car services for quotes.

You may need 3 cars as most vehicles seat 5 people but don't forget the driver is one of them. You'd get more people in a black cab than a normal sedan. If you go with cars instead of public transport, traffic might be the biggest issue. No traffic on a tube or train line.

If you decide on public transport, a suggestion is split the group into two and have one person in each group who knows what they are doing. Directions, stations, transfers, tickets etc. TFL (Transport for London) or google maps show the whole route, with options.

It depends a lot on your luggage and mobility of the group. If everyone just has a small suitcase and can manage stairs, escalators and walking, then the tube or Elizabeth Line will work and be much cheaper than a car transfer. Depending on time of day and if M-F, public transport could also be quicker.

If you do book car transfers, only so much luggage will fit in the boot, so you'll need multiple cars for people and bags. Avoid getting black cabs from Heathrow into London, very expensive. Friends (who never research) were shocked at the cost, sitting in traffic, with the meter ticking, and ticking.

The 10 of us will arrive on a Saturday at about 10AM. Hopefully, no more than 9-10 carryon bags.

I am confused - are you talking about transportation to the airport or to Windsor?

Both. First the question was about Windsor, then airport transport. If it was me, I'd always use public transport but have never travelled as a group of ten. It depends on the people involved. You do need to be reasonably fit, especially carrying luggage.

If you want to know what Uber wil roughly cost, go into the app and check. You have the option of checking a future date and vehicle size.

The train from Waterloo is very easy and you don't need to buy tickets in advance, day or is perfectly fine. It is a pleasant walk to Windsor Castle and very easy.

I found this website which mentions an airport van that can hold 16 passengers to transfer from the airport to central London. I have never used this company but it might be worth researching: https://airportstaxitransfers.com/tr...n/taxibookings.
