Onward travel...

Looks like I will need to get from Lahore to Katmandu. Any recommendations? Advice? Anyone done that?

You could use the booking website of your choice (I first check with Kayak) and you will be able to book through Abu Dhabi or Sharjah. That woudl be easiest and shortest. Maybe there are lees expensive options, especially if you are wiling to make two stops.

We did this several years ago, the other direction. We flew from KTM to Amritsar (via Delhi), and then traveled by land from Amritsar to Lahore. Flights from KTM to India are cheap and plentiful.

Doing it this way is an adventure and provides a great stopover in Amritsar -- the Golden Temple is amazing. And you get to walk across one of the most contentious land borders in the world. It's a perfectly easy crossing for a normal tourist, despite the intense security.

FYI, Here is a 2025 page that discusses the crossing from Amritsar to Lahore:

But unfortunately the crossing is closed as from April 2025.

Yikes. Sorry to get your hopes up. I assume you'll have to fly through one of the Gulf states, then.
