Hi all - we are travelling to France next May and will arrive at 9.30pm. We are not staying in Paris at this time as we are meeting our daughter at a later date. We are thinking to stay the first night near the airport and then wish to hire a car to drive to MSM the next morning. It seems that there is an additional surcharge for airport collection. Upon return we are staying in the 9th. We would rather not drive in Paris so are wanting to know if there are any other options of where we could collect and drop off the car on the outskirts of Paris. For example we could train it to Versailles collect a car go to MSM from here but I am not sure that this is on the right side of Paris to drive to MSM. We are looking at a 10 day car hire to see MSM Dinan St Malo and onto the Loire Valley.

One option, which we have taken, is that you can take a train from Paris to Caen, rent a car there near the railroad station, and then proceed from there to MSM, etc. We returned the car to Caen, but you could probably return it somewhere on the Loire, like Tours, and take the train back to Paris. Going to Rennes from Paris might also work. By the way, Versailles is on the right (or west) side of Paris.
