West/Northwest Mallorca - Recommendations for Fincas/Country Hotels
As I noted in an earlier thread, we are traveling to Barcelona and Costa Brava in mid-September 2025. We also plan to spend six days in the west/northwest part of Mallorca near the mountains.
I have reviewed Booking.com and TripAdvisor as well as relevant threads on Fodors. Ideally, wed like to stay in a Finca or country-style lodging. Our top budget is 350 Euros per night. As I researched, I didnt find much available in our price range.
Id appreciate hearing your recommendations for places to stay in Soller, Pollenca and the interior of Mallorca.
Maribel and Rubicund, I see that you both have stayed in a number of places in this part of Mallorca. Ive reserved a room at the Son Sant Jordi Hotel in Pollenca, so that we have something on the books. It looks lovely, but if possible, wed like to stay more in the countryside. We will have a car. Id really value your suggestions. The guidebooks (Fodors, Frommers, and Lonely Planet) dont provide a lot of specifics about hotels in this part of Mallorca. Thanks so much!

The hotel you've booked is very good and one that we've used on a number of occasions. Jaime and Ana are great hosts and we love staying in Polllenca for its atmosphere, restaurants and typical "feel". If you want t stay outside of there, try the Can Guillem Bet on the MA-10 from Pollenca heading west. We haven't stayed there, just had lunch, but it looks good.
Because we prefer to stay in the town itself for its "lots to do at night" vibe, we've avoided country hotels that are a bit isolated as we get fed up of the same restaurant every evening, same bar-though we're not big drinkers and it's nice to pop over to the port for a cheap cab ride for a change of scene.
Remember that Pollenca is a small place and therefore doesn't give you the anonymous big town feeling.

I feel the same as Rubicund regarding the country hotels, especially those outside of Pollenēa, that require a drive into town. The town, being so small, really is delightful just to wander, especially in the evening, to sit and have a drink in the lovely main square, and Pollenēa has some very nice restaurants. We enjoyed dining at R3spira, Q11 the M (at our hotel) and Il Giardino for Italian fare.
In Pollenēa we stayed at the 4-star, new Mon Boutique right off the square. For more Mallorcan charm, we should have booked the Sant Jordi. Although the Mon Boutique was fine, it didn't have an intimate "family run" feel like our hotel, The Salvia, in Sóller. I think you would be pleased with the Sant Jordi.
Outside of Pollenēa the Can Auli & Son Brull were way out of our price range!
For Sóller we were extremely happy with our stay and especially with the hospitality of our young hosts, who couldn't do enough for us.
But... there were finca hotels that we did considered, slightly out of town, 2 even within walking distance of the Sņller center.
These were our "runners up":
the Ca“Sant (expensive), just a 10 minute walk from the Plaēa
the Ca'n Quatre, also a 10 min walk away
the Ca's Curiel, popular with hikers, an agroturism

Rubicund and Maribel. Thank you so much for your quick and helpful responses. I checked out the hotels and fincas you mentioned. There was no availability for our dates. Also, the Can Guillem Bet rents out (according to Booking.com) as an entire 6 bedroom villa.
Are either of you familiar with Ca N’ai? It’s sits between Soller and Port de Soller and gets very good reviews on Booking.com.
Maribel, I have used your guides for Spain and Portugal in the past and found the information invaluable. You are incredibly generous with your knowledge and expertise. For the past couple of months, when I go to Maribelsguides.com and click on the link to a particular guide, such as “Costa Brava,” I get an error message. Have you pulled the guides from the Web? Thanks again to you both!

No, I'm just updating the Costa Brava guide, I would just post it here, but it's too long, so I can't. In the meantime I'm here to answer any questions you might have about the Costa Brava.
The only other finca hotel I'm familiar with is the Ca's Xorc, which we also considered but was over our price range for early June. In mid September I see it's 390/night, refundable w/breakfast. The Tramuntana hotels seem very expensive in mid September, for sure!.

Maribel contributed a lot of great information on Mallorca hotels and town in this recent thread:
What would you do --- Mallorca
Maribel, does this mean that Barcelona dining will be updates as well? As you know, I think, I hope to spend a week or so in that city in March, before Vejer. (I ruled out Mallorca until another trip when partner can go along)

Ekscrunchy,
As always, I will take care of you and your Barcelona dining, just like Galicia, Madrid, Costa de la Luz, Cįdiz, Sevilla, Asturias, Basque Country, the lechazo trail!
You know me too well! Probably best to chat about this on HO.
We're off to Vitoria tomorrow, then Pamplona (Sanfermines!) then more Basque Country (Spanish and French sides) but I'll keep in touch here.

Maribel, thanks for letting me know about the Costa Brava guide. I so appreciate your offer to answer Costa Brava-related questions. Thanks also for the link to Ca’s Xorc. It’s over our budget. You’re very right, the Tramuntana hotels are expensive in September (at least the many we researched).
Are you updating most of your guides? I clicked on multiple links (Madrid, Barcelona and their respective dining guides) and got the same error message.
ekscrunchy - thanks so much for link to the Mallorca hotel thread with many contributions from Maribel.

I am updating them. In the meantime, I'm here and at Hungry Onion to answer questions about those locations.
I've gone through all of my finca hotel "runners up" for the Sóller, Deią area, and they just are very pricey in September.
One on our list between Sóller & Deią, Sa Pedrissa.
On our list for Deią, in the village, not countryside: D'es Puig
We discarded the idea of staying in Valdemossa because of the Tramuntana area villages, it is the most congested, as it sits within a quicker drive or bus tour from Palma. We were there in early June and it was heaving with groups, mostly Germans.
