Mallorca with Kids

Hi everyone
has anyone been to Mallorca with Kids? We have a 1 and 4 year old and want to know.

do you need a car in Mallorca to get to beaches?

what are the roads like?

are the restaurants open all day or do they open at eg. 7pm for dinner?

is it generally a toddler friendly city?

You have enquired on Portofino, Singapore, Mallorca, the South of France, and beaches in general, with a one and four year old. Perhaps you should get a guidebook (or four) and come up with a plan that is less spread out and vague. Where are you coming from? How long is your vacation? Budget?

Mallorca is my favourite island in the Med and we prefer the north side in the Pollenca and Puerto Pollenca area. The port has some nice hotels and a good long beach, the town of Pollenca, some few kms inland has a lovely Spanish feel t it and we stay there whenever we're on the island. With a car, It's a good base to explore both to the west and east.

If you stay in Pollenca and want to stay in town instead of beach front, we stayed in a family suite at San Sant Jordi Hotel. It's a charming family run hotel with a nice outdoor pool. It was not the original hotel I booked. We were moved at the last minute. It was just 2 of us in this 2 bedroom suite, with a separate living room space that even had a teepee tent for kids! We had a car, had no problem finding free parking near the hotel.

Font de sa Cala and Cala Ratjada are very popular with European families with kids. Especially the hotels offering kids clubs.

Another vote for the Hotel Son Sant Jordi. That's the hotel we usually stay in as I mentioned above.Jaime and Ana are great hosts and the hotel is very welcoming. It's a two minute stroll to the main square.
