Skiing in Sauze d'Oulx

My family and I live in Italy, near Alassio. We really like swimming in the sea in the summer and skiing in the winter. This year we thought for a long time about where to go on holiday in the winter. We were looking for a ski resort where we wouldn't have to drive a long way and where the road would run as long as possible along the motorway, not along a serpentine. In the end, we decided to go to Sauze d'Oulx. It is 250 km from us. Almost the entire road runs along the motorway, so we got there in just 2 hours and 50 minutes. We paid 32 euros for the toll road one way. I would have liked to pay less, but the road is very convenient. After you pass Turin, the road becomes picturesque - there are very beautiful mountains around.

We did not live in the ski resort, but nearby in the city of Oulx itself. It is closer to the motorway. From there to Sauze d'Oulx it is about 10 minutes along a serpentine (quite close). In the town of Oulx there are several good grocery stores, many restaurants, sports shops and, most importantly, many options for hotels and apartments at half the price of Sauze d'Oulx.

We rented a room in an aparthotel - very nice, cozy, with a good private kitchen in each room and very kind staff. The price is 110-120 euros per day. The hotel is called Cascina Genzianella.

We skied 1 day in Sauze d'Oulx, but we had to go to another neighboring resort Sansicario Alto, as it has much more ski slopes for children. We taught our 6-year-old daughter to ski and she really liked it there.

In general, the slopes for experienced skiers are quite normal, both in Sauze d'Oulx and in Sansicario Alto.

A ski pass with insurance for the whole day costs 55 euros. You can ski it in all the neighboring resorts, moving between them by car or by chairlift.

We really enjoyed these places!
