I posted the Italian one on the Italian forum,
and the French one on the French forum.

Now, I just looked at the French forum, I couldn't see it.
I didn't look in the Europe (general) forum,
but if I were a stranger looking for help on France, I wouldn't look in Europe-general if I were interested in France-specifically.
And vice versa-if I sought Italian info, I wouldn't look in Italy-specifically
And the French post wouldn't be of much interest to a searcher of Italy info.
And the Ittalian post wouldn't be of much interest to a searcher of French info.

And, I were just nosing around in Europe-general, it sure would sink out-of-date in a hurry, buried by posts for Estonia, Hungary, and UK, to name a few.
Seems to me, after a few minutes on Fodors-Europe, one clues into that there's a France-speciifc forum, and a italy-specific forum, etc., and that unless is mainly a browsing generalist, one is country-specific in his/her quest, and one soon learns to narrow down his/her search by going country-specific to avoid being distracted by posts about Herzogovina when you're trying to learn more about Sarlat.

Perhaps moderator1 might consider un-mergiing the two, and keeping them within their respective country-forums
What do you others think?

tomboy, thank you so much for posting Stu's itineraries. I have printed about 10 pages of his Italy itinerary for our upcoming trip this May. Much appreciated!

Why did you start a new thread? You already have this one . . . https://www.fodors.com/community/eur...s-doc-1728566/

Maybe ask the moderators to merge them (again)

Maybe ask the moderators to merge them (again)
Here's why (and, Fodorites, please vote afterwards with your thoughts):

"I posted the Italian docs (2) on the Italian forum,
and the French docs (on the French forum.
Now neither appear where I posted them.
The moderator merged them into one post, and marked it for the Europe forum in general, without tagging it for Italy or France.

If I were a stranger looking for help on France, I wouldn't look in Europe-general if I were interested in France-specifically.
And vice versa-if I sought Italian info, I wouldn't look in Italy-specifically
And the French post wouldn't be of much interest to a searcher of Italy info.
And the Ittalian post wouldn't be of much interest to a searcher of French info.

A post in the Europe-general forum, without being tagged for France OR Italy, would sink to the bottom of the first page of Europe posts, being buried by posts not only for France and Italy, but also by posts about the other 43 countries of Europe, including Ukraine and Russia. And it would sink to page 10 of the Europe-in-general forum faster than it would sink to page 10 of the French or the Italian forums. Thus it would become less accessible, and less remembered, in the Europe-in-general forum than in the country-specific forum.
.

Now maybe I'm just flat wrong, and the viewpoint held by Moderator1 and janis, that one merged thread waaaaaay down in the Europe-general forum is right.
But let's take a vote on it, Fodorites: 1) country-specific/unmerged, left in the France and Italy forums, respectively OR: 2) country-irrelevant/merged, mixed in with posts about all 45 European countries?

Until then final vore, Moderator1, please leave it as is.

Three threads have been merged. An FYI, there is no France Forum. All threads for any European country reside on the same Europe board. Adding country tags do not take them off the master forum.

I am sure that when someone unfamiliar with SD's opus needs a referal to this thread, it will be done by one of us. The placement of this repository is not very important therefore.
