For one night only.... Honolulu/Waikiki

Greetings fellow Fodorites:
Looking forward to our next trip to Oahu and Maui this coming April. I thought I was all set until I started reading some recent reviews (not very favorable) of The Equus Hotel in Waikiki, which I have booked for April 16th. We go to the Marriott at Ko Olina on April 17th. Need some advice for a clean, moderately priced hotel for one night. I have done extensive research on Booking.com and TripAdvisor, but would love to hear from anyone on this forum. Thanking you in advance for any help/advice.

Just looked on Expedia and saw Stay Condominiums for $111 ($149 with taxes and fees) for your date. There are some cheaper (low as $60/night) but they are probably not good.

Stay has WORSE ratings than Equus on Expedia.
Look at
Pacific Monarch
Vive
Waikiki Resort
Aqua Oasis

Hello mlgb:
Thank you for your suggestions and will look into them also. I had "liked" three of the hotels that you have listed, so I now have my Sunday research project! Have a nice day,

The two hotels I have stayed at myself and like are Waikiki Sand Villa or White Sands Hotel.

That said, I have friends who were at Equus on a short stay and liked it OK.

Thank you suze. I did finally book rooms at "Vive" but will certainly keep your recommended hotels in my file. They also look very nice.

Happy to help. Let us know what you think of Vive after the trip. It's one I've looked at too.
