Good scam -- obtain travel photos to illustrate your books and websites for free. How about paying professionals a fair price instead? No, better to appeal to the vanity of amateurs who'll give it away for free -- or the wholesale price of a cheap travel guide. You people are shameless.

It would certainly have been more transparent to put that in the rules post rather than in the fine print where many of us, including me, might not think to look. And it might mitigate feelings of unfairness if photographers were promised notice of their work's use & a copy of any used in print. That would make a difference to me.
You automatically grant and assign to us, and you represent and warrant that you have the right to grant and assign to us, a perpetual, irrevocable, unlimited, fully paid, fully sub-licensable (through multiple tiers), worldwide license to copy, perform, display, distribute, prepare derivative works from (including, without limitation, incorporating into other works) and otherwise use any content that you post. You also expressly grant and assign to us all rights and causes of action to prohibit and enforce against any unauthorized copying, performance, display, distribution, use or exploitation of, or creation of derivative works from, any content that you post (including but not limited to any unauthorized downloading, extraction, harvesting, collection or aggregation of content that you post).

[QUOTE=Gardyloo;17113180]The T&Cs of the entire site authorize the same use of any materials posted - text, images, etc. - just like in the photo competition rules. You agreed to these (or their predecessors) when you registered for the forums.
I'm not quibbling with the legalities but stand by my suggestion above. It never hurts to make it more clear.

A beautiful day at Aiguille du Midi. It takes your breath away with the grandeur of the glaciers and the mountains. There were climbers returning from their glacier hikes. If you look carefully, there was a climber on top of near peak in the picture.
