Advice - 15 days in India

Hello,

My friend and I are flying into Delhi mid February and flying out of Mumbai.

Does anyone have any advice or thoughts on the following?

Delhi - one day
Agra - day trip from Delhi or stay?
Pushkar or pass?
Udaipur - one or two days?
Jodhur - two days?
Goa - south - 3-4 days
Mumbai - 2 days

Thank you.

Caroline

Too many destinations - I'd focus on just Delhi and Agra during the northern part of your journey. Travelling in India is not comparable to say, Europe.

Agree. Not sure why you are going to Goa at all on a short trip.

I recommend at least one overnight for Agra, so you can see the Taj at dusk and dawn. You should also make time for Fatehpur Sikri.

i would drop Goa, spend more time in Delhi, and visit two of Jodhpur, Jaipur and Udaipur. Are you going to travel by train (see https://www.seat61.com/India.htm ) or use a car and driver?

Agree with thursdaysd I think you should go for a trip to smaller destinations. So, you can enjoy it better. Delhi, Mumbai and Goa are not possible for only a few days. I am advising, whether you extend your travel days or decrease your destinations. If you want to go to the hilly areas then Himachal Pradesh is the best place for you. There are many hill stations you could visit like Shimla, Kullu, Palampur, Manali, Dharamshala, McLoadganj, etc

Better focus on one region to spend your day in vacation so that you can enjoy your vacation and relax more.

Wow! I think its too packed in.
Delhi is at least two days if you want to see it all and do consider Delhi traffic which can be maddening and consider jet lag assuming you are flying from a long way away. Three days is better.
Agra should be an overnight. Now you have around 5 days.
Puskar I found to be a den of thieves so I would pass.
You can work your way down to Jodhpur and Udaipur for another 5 days.
Then you can split your remaining 5 days between Goa and Mumbai.
I think thats plenty!
Good luck.

I just got back from 19 nights in India and I flew into Delhi and out of Mumbai. Here's what we did:
Flew into Delhi arrived 2 am (paid for 3 nights hotel so we could check right in and slept half the day away). Two proper nights in Delhi.
Flew to Varanasi. 2 nights
Flew from Varanasi to Delhi and drove to Agra for 1 night. (could've taken the train, chose not to.) One night in Agra was enough to see the Taj in the evening and then in the morning.
Drove to Ranthambore to do tiger safari. 2 nights and 3 safari drives.
Drove to Jaipur. 2 nights.
Flew from Jaipur to Udaipur. 3 nights. One day was built in to just relax at the hotel.
Flew from Udaipur to Cochin and spent nights in Thekkady, Kumarakom and on a houseboat in Alleppey. 5 nights. One day built in to chill at the hotel.
Flew from Cochin to Mumbai and spent 2 nights there before heading back to the US.

We used Castle and King who planned it for us so it was all pretty seamless because we had a driver and a guide. We had an excellent time but it was a fast-paced vacation. It was good for us because we got to see the sights, visit markets and interact with the people. I don't think we would have enjoyed it had we done it on own, being responsible for transportation logistics, etc.

Hope it helps!
