Need a car for 6 months in Juneau Help!
This is not vacation related but I hope someone can help with some valuable info that knows Juneau.
My daughter is a recent graduate from a university in Indiana with a degree in Geology. She accepted a 6 month (seasonal job) in Juneau working for an environmental firm. She has everything set as far as living arrangements. We are struggling on how or what people do for these seasonal jobs as far as obtaining a car without breaking the bank. Driving from Indiana is nota reality really (unless it gets to be a desperate situation) and if anyone in Juneau has valuable information to guide us it would be so greatly appreciated. I know this is a travel forum and if not allowed I fully understand. Thank You very much in advance for any information.

There are 59 vehicles for sale in Juneau on Craigslist for SE Alaska - https://juneau.craigslist.org/search/cta?query=juneau
Alternatively there are thousands for sale in the Seattle area; sending one up on one of the regularly scheduled barges from Seattle to Juneau costs around $1400 for most cars. Or the car costs around $1100 to take on the state ferry from Bellingham to Juneau.

A future tip if you buy and then later sell on Craigslist. Allow plenty of time for the sale to sort out tire kickers and to avoid pressure to sell at a lower price by waiting too long. DS bought a great used car in Kenai one year that had an extra low price because departing seller got desperate.

There are used car dealers in Juneau (I googled). Craig's list can be iffy, but so can used car dealers. The latter, however, have addresses and will be around to buy back a car after the 6 months, and may offer some kind of warranty.
