I have been asked to recall the name of a chateau near Paris that my girl friend and I visited many years ago (2004). We took a train past Versailles to a very small village and then taxied to the chateau which was in the deep country. Afterwards, we continued to Fountainbleau which was about a 20 minute drive away. It was not Vaux.

I thought the name was Curraunt or Current or some variation thereof due to the flowing water on the estate but all of my internet search has been futile. I'm sure due to a miss-spelling of the name. I should mention that it was privately owned and the gardens were the main feature.

Sorry to bother everyone with such a minute request but we were trying to send some friends there and frankly this is driving me absolutely crazy.

Any ideas or guesses would be most appreciated.

Your directions don´t really make a lot of sense. Fontainebleau is a long way from Versailles and on the opposite side of Paris. If it is not Vaux le Vicomte to which you are referring, it could be Chantilly.

Chantilly - Fontainebleau makes as little sense as Versailles - Fontainebleau geographically speaking.

None of the description makes a lot of sense. However, if you went to Versailles and continued westbound from there, you could be talking about Château de Rambouillet.
