My girlfriend and I are taking a 2 week trip to Puerto Rico, February 21-March 7th 2017. We fly in and out of San Juan.

I'm a photographer and she is a chef. We are big foodies. We also especially love live music, dancing, culture, relaxing on the beach and hiking.

I already know we'd like to explore San Juan, El Yunque, a bio bay, Ponce, la Parguera or Boqueron, Cabo Rojo, La playa sucia, Guanica forest... Possibly vieques?

I'm just trying to figure out an itinerary that makes the most sense to see as much as possible without feeling rushed. We are on a budget and mostly plan to stay in Air BnB's but would like a couple nights in a nice hotel. We do plan to rent a car. Should we rent one for our whole stay? If so, do we avoid going to Culebra or Vieques?

Should we start in San Juan and then head east, then south, then west? or the reverse? What is best?

Any tips would be very helpful! Thank you!
