Toledo, Spain
Whist visiting Madrid, I took a day trip to the nearby city of Toledo. The former capital of Spain, this historical gem offers an excellently preserved window into central Spain's diverse and colourful past. Here is my picture review of Toledo's fabulous Old Town!

It only took me about 30 mins on the direct high speed AVE train between Madrid (Atocha Station) and Toledo - tickets can be bought in the station, but it is also possible to make reservations in advance
Thanks for reading!

I recently returned from spending 4 nights in Toledo. Loved every minute. We lived like a local in an apartment in the old section. Every night we were serenaded by an orchestra at the music conservatory nearby. Evenings were magic.

Good additional information. Our plan is to spend 3 nights/2 full days there. Glad to hear people enjoy it as more than just a day trip as well. We have also booked an apartment fairly close to the cathedral.

Good to hear! I'm looking forward to visiting and I'm sure we'll be able to amuse ourselves for 2 days. And, if we run out of things to do, our apartment has a lovely terrace that we can enjoy some Spanish wine on and relax.

We spent 2 nights there and I could easily have spent a third night. So go for 3 nights! There is so much to see and it's a pleasure just to wander the streets. The apartment sounds nice, too, debinthepeg!

Thanks Progol.
It's funny, often on the "other" forum (TA), I get asked why I would want to spend that much time in Toledo - lol.
It's all about style of travel I guess. I think at my age (50), I just not in that much of a hurry anymore and really appreciate some time just to soak up things.
Looking forward to your report on Madrid! It's great you've taken the time to write your report and share all of that wonderful information with others. I'm a "details" kind of person, so your report has been a pleasure to read.
