Hotel in Vang Vieng
Thank you for the excellent replies we have had on our SE Asia trip so far. This is such a great forum.
I think we will stop in VV for two or three nights in December. We would like somewhere central, but quiet and less than £30 a night to stay. The hotel suggestions so far have been excellent. As helpful as Booking.com is, it does not always come up with the best options. Thanks for your recommendations.

I've stayed at Elephant crossing and Bandana....both have rooms overlooking the river..... but not all rooms.
They are both modern concrete buildings so lack any local character.
The Vansana has a pool.
I think they will be at or above the upper limit of your budget.
Every time I visit Vang Vieng, I'm amazed at how prices for rooms have gone up....even more for poor Brexit blighted Brits.

V V centre isn't that big, and reasonably flat. We just got off the bus from Vientiane, had a wander round and looked at a couple of places. When you get off the bus you'll be surrounded by accommodation touts, same in Luang Prabang.
