Australia vs New Zealand to travel in may 2018

My husband and I want to plan a vacation next may with our three year old daughter.

New Zealand or Australia..? Which would be better to travel during may ans also wit a toddler ?

I'm thinking either would be pretty problem free.

The southern half of Australia will be experiencing a welcome relief from the heat, with Melbourne starting to get a bit cool at night and Sydney usually very comfortable around that time. Imagine even Queensland would be nice.

We moved from the US when our daughter was a toddler and I don't think there's much difference as far as ease of travel.

Depends where you want to go & what you want to do, but either would be as easy as the other.

New Zealand will be colder than Australia, and particularly the northern part of Australia in May.

It's difficult to compare as 'better'. Australia is huge so in two weeks you could only see a small area of it. The weather will be better there than in NZ.
NZ is smaller so you could see quite a bit in 2 weeks. Just make a decision on either one.
