History traveler and Janisj, you have both helped me so much in just one day. I am starting to feel like I am on the right track with this itinerary now. I feel a lot more confident that I made the right choice with visiting Arran and am at peace with not heading north. Do you think Dunkeld is worth a 2 night stop over, or should we just do 1 night there and maybe a night up around Loch Tay on the way to Dunkeld? I have never been so overwhelmed with planning a trip as I have with Scotland. Such an amazing little country.

If you are planning on using ferries you might want to look at

for routes and fares.

As an addition to Janisj's route from Oban to Dunkeld you could also take a detour to Glen Etive, which was used in scenes towards the end of the James Bond Skyfall film.
Coming south the signposted road is on the right hand side just past the end of Glencoe and before you cross Rannoch Moor. It's a single track road with plenty of passing places and goes round the side of Buachaille Etive Mòr. It took me about 20 minutes to drive to the small car park at the end of the road at Loch Etive but there are plenty of places you can park at the side of the road (not the passing places!)on the way. You can do what every one else does and try to find and stop at the place where James Bond and M are out of the car looking down the glen - good photo op.
