Road trip from Dallas to Detroit

Curious of a good place to stop on the way back from Dallas to Detroit. We're hitting St Louis on the way down and want a place to visit on the way back. Just a neat place. Not sure of route we're taking so we're open to any suggestions. I have heard that the drive through Kentucky and Tennesse is the prettiest way to return to MI. Advice?
Memphis is pretty cool and probably right on your way. Beale Street is really neat. Recent trip report posted on here gave a good description of fun things to do there.

I was thinking about Memphis, but I've already been there (saw the Dead at the Pyramid) and was hoping to go somewhere I haven't been yet. Of course, I didn't see all of Memphis when I was there.
If you don't want to go through Memphis, your other option is coming down through St. Louis and Oklahoma. I'll warn you that it's a pretty boring drive, but the good thing is the turnpikes in OK let you go 75 mph. The McDonald's that spans the turnpike once you cross into MO from OK is kind of neat. Also, the Will Rogers Birthplace in Claremore, OK is worth a visit.

We drive to Kentucky 3-4 times a year to visit family. I would suggest going north from Nashville to the Cumberland Parkway. Then hit I-75 to Lexington. That part of the state is a lot prettier than the route to Louisville.

Lexington is a neat mid size city to visit. Be sure to go out to the Kentucky Horse Park and then drive around looking at the beautiful horse farms. Some give tours.
