Which to choose - Gala Resort Playacar, Iberostar Tucan or Quetzal, Club Viva Maya of Club Viva Azteca?

Have never been to this area of the world and the pictures in a brochure all look great. Can anyone give me some opinions on these hotels on the Mayan Riviera. Thanks.

I just got back from my honeymoon at Iberostar Tucan. We loved it! We loved the area, there is so much to do. All of the resorts in this area looked very nice. Any specific questions feel free to e-mail me.

Hi Bev,
We vacationed at the Gala Resort Playacar this past October. We loved it! I can't say enough good things about it,we'd definately stay there again. The one thing we liked best is that the Gala was the last resort in that particular row of resorts. The beach was very nice, nicer than a lot of the others. A few of them had a lot of erosion, and were a lot more crowded. The water was beautiful, it did look just like it did in the brochures. If you have any other particular questions, please e-mail. I'm sure you'll enjoy any of the resorts in this area, they all looked beautiful from the beach.

I stayed at the Iberostar in May of this year. It was great! The Tucan and Quetzal are side by side and share the same pool, dining areas, etc. I never did figure out why they call one side the Tucan and the other side Quetzal.

I discovered the Iberostar hotels while in the Dominican Republic (Punta Cana) in March of this year. I went there for humpback whale watching. The hotel was great and I discovered that they had just opened an Iberostar in Mexico. I will be returning to the Iberostar in Mexico in April or May of 2000 but first I'm going to see the humbacks in Puerto Vallarta in March.

Enjoy your trip!
Went to iberostar tucan in February 99. Exudes luxury. Lush setting. Top notch for service cleanliness. Seemed to be far superior in appearance to all area resorts. Would/will return in a heart beat. If you want a beautiful beach, and a lush jungle type setting, the Iberostar is great. Email any time.

Just returned from Viva Maya, had a good experience. People, facility, food beach , pool. All very nice. Good if you have family, if not the Azteca is a little more sedate. We have travelled a lot throughot the caribbean over the past 15 years and this was really one of the nicer vacations we have had. A lot of factors come into play why I say that, and a lot of it has to do with overall impression of the Playa area. It is much more upscale feeling than Cancun. It was like entering a Golf and Country club, and that is what the whole Hotel Zone feels like. I don't mind giving more detail if you are interested, just e-mail a request and I can very definitely help give advice that will make your vacation go just a little smoother. Ted.
