Want to stay on north side of Roatan, Honduras
Hello, Can anyone recommend a place to stay on the north side of Roatan, Honduras? My husband and I like remote places but he has to be able to buy beer We do not want to be anywhere near the cruise ship folks or the airport so based on my research so far, the west side of the island and the south western side of the island are out! I'm having a very difficult time finding a "villa" (I call it that because that's what they call the houses we like to rent in the Caribbean) on the north west side of Roatan. Also, we want to take at least one day trip to the ruins and jungle on the mainland so let us know about that to, please. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. This NC Southern girl needs your help!

Remote rentals in Roatan and proximity to a beer supply are probably not going to match up very well. If you have a car, you can stock up at the bulk beer depot just outside of French Harbour where they sell by the crate (24) for about $1/bottle.
There isn't a wide selection of rentals on the north side, there are some at Palmetto Bay and some upscale places at the golf course. A couple of small scale resorts on the north side would be Paya Bay and Marble Hills. A lot of the remote rentals would be on the south side at places like Calabash Bight.
Doing the ruins and jungle on the mainland in one day would be one very long and rushed trip. I don't know of many who would try and make that a day trip. Most recommendations for such a thing would be for something along the three day line.

Your request for NW is confusing me. If the Sandy Bay area would work, look up rental homes and condos in that area - lots on offer.

We stayed in the NE end a few years ago at Camp Bay Beach Resort. There are new owners so can't comment on what might be different. Hope you find what you're looking for!

No way to visit both ruins and jungle as a day trip. You could squeeze in a quick jungly trip by taking flights or ferries to La Ceiba and hiring Omega Lodge to pick you up and drop you off. Their tours include rafting, kayaking, horses, and waterfall hikes among others.

You could also try to charter a flight to Copán; it would be a sadly quick visit but doable. There aren't scheduled flights there so without a charter you would have to fly from Roatán to San Pedro Sula (SAP) and bus from there, ~3 hours each way.

Check out Blue Bahia in Sandy Bay. Pretty sure you can rent out a whole house, or at least a floor of a house. We only ate there and the food was good. We met some people who were staying there and were happy. There are some other small restaurants in the area and Tranquil seas is close by with a great restaurant and bar. This area is very quiet, but things are accessible. This area is not touched by cruise shippers, unless you venture further down the beach to Anthony's Key.

We rented a Villa on the North side in March. Not a cruise ship in sight but it was also fairly isolated. We stocked our pool bar with lots of cold local beer. The Villa includes a car, the owner picked us up at the airport and took us to the grocery store on the way. Cook is available if you want. Bought fresh fish from fishermen at dock and fresh vegies/fruits from fruit truck which came to the house. Snorkeling and kayaking from your private dock. Massage and facials available by appointment. Dive boat picked up our divers at our dock. House was beautiful. There are three villas on the property but all secluded. We stayed in Mariposa del Mar. I would highly recommend. http://www.villasdelmarroatan.com/ On the way we drove by a development called Pristine Bay. Looked nice but not sure what they have.
