Tipping Housekeeping in Costa Rica

Hello,
My two adult daughters, husband and I will be in Costa Rica at the end of the month in a small villa/resort. I have been trying to find current tipping information but have been unsuccessful. What is a reasonable range for our family of four/day? As well, should it be in Colons or US dollars?
Thanks

We usually leave about two dollars a day for the two of us. We use U.S. dollars because we don't usually convert our money, but you can use either.
