Teotihuacan: weather, conditions?

Hello all
I am trying to pack light for a trip to Mexico City next week; I do not usually wear sneakers, sweatshirts or backpacks in cities but a trip to the Sun Pyramid is scheduled so I guess I will need those, right?
As for weather during the hike up and down - will it be hot? cold? windy? rainy? buggy?
Thank you
Jess

Not the weather man but we went one year in December & the weather was lovely. I wore a short sleeve shirt & jeans with boat shoes.

It was very hot when we were there. I can't exactly remember, but it would probably have been in the February time frame a few years ago. My husband got too much sun, and was actually ill that evening.

Thanks, everyone. I am trying NOT to pack sneakers, as I'll not be wearing them on the rest of the trip and am hoping any flat walking shoe will be OK and not be ruined.

A pair of good walking shoes are probably better than sneakers. The only thing you really have to worry about is slipping -- so go for the best traction. Do not wear flat leather soles!

It will be hot and the climb is tiring, but there are places to stop and catch your breath.

Make sure to visit the temple of Quetzalcoatl at the area known as "the citadel." One of the real high points of Teotihuacan.

I was there the first day of Nov. last year. No bugs. You are at altitude (even though it may not feel like it). Wear a good hat, esp. if you have one that you like w/a nice brim, as the sun is very intense. Wear sunscreen. It is VERY DRY and dusty and you must stay hydrated as you walk down that long avenue from pyramid to pyramid. Take a LOT of water (we drank 3 qts each while there for 4 hrs.)

If you are climbing the pyramids, I think closed shoes are best, w/good traction. Your feet are going to get bery dirty and dusty if you have open toed shoes like Teva sandals. And you could stub your toe on a big rock like I did at a different set of ruins (and cracked my big toe nail in half- not fun-- and that was after I broke my ankle falling down stairs at the mexico city airport).

I still can't believe I climbed around at Teotihuacan with two breaks in my ankle (5th metatarsal, bad break, and right at the ankle) uncasted. Ibuprofen is a good drug to have when traveling. Large doses of it (and a few stiff drinks in the evening) got me thru 5 days of walking in Mexico city w/a broken ankle.
