Hi Kristy,
Debbie is right - it's December to May, but May can be very wet as we discovered a couple of years in Cozumel.
The precipitation almost doubles each month between January and May.
I was curious about this also and found a graph on one of the weather sites. (It might have been weather.com.)

Unfortunately, it's a 50/50 proposition in September and October as this is considered hurricane season. So it's anybody's guess as to what the weather will be - you could get full sun with a few quick five minutes showers or you could get hurricane weather.
Regretfully no guarantees available on the weather.

We usually travel south in February or March, but a few years ago, we decided to go to Isla Mujeres for a week in October. It was Canadian Thanksgiving. We were one step ahead of a hurricane (I can't remember which one). We had nice weather for the first 4 days and then the skies opened. I've never seen so much rain in my entire life! We flew out on Thanksgiving day, very glad to be going home. Others arriving that weekend weren't so lucky!

Bottom line is that my husband said he'd never travel at that time again.

As Debbie says though, it's anyone's guess. I guess from my point of view, there are lots of other places in the world to visit at that time of the year, places that I can't visit in the winter. So for me, it makes more sense to go elsewhere in September (which is when we usually take our summer holiday) and save Mexico for February!

Kristy, we have been going to area for 13 years now and usually twice a year and almost every month. Forget trying to predict. Once we went in May for 3 weeks, did not rain once. Another time 3 weeks in October, no rain. Yet we have seen rain and nasty weather in what should be the non rainy season. So my advice would be make your plans have fun and don't worry about it.
