I agree with Jed, it is a lovely way to do it. You can buy the tickets localy either in Chile or in Bariloche.
There are also several buses that connect both places.
We did he Lake Crossing and came back to Bariloche by bus, the bus stopped first in Villa la Angostura then continued to Bariloche. It was very inexpensive.

You can buy the tickets for the Lake Crossing in Bariloche at Catedral Turismo, I believe the phone number is 54-2944- 425444 they are the official representatives of Cruce de Lagos.
