Help choosing hotel in Tamarindo/Longosta
We are a family of three -- husband, myself and our 14 month-old! We are heading to Tamarindo / Langosta Beach April 2012 and have three hotels in mind. Any insight would be helpful.
Hotel Capitan Suizo
Hotel Arco Iris
Barcelo Longosta Resort (all inclusive)
The first two are hotels with breakfast included, the latter an all inclusive. We are considering the all inclusive because of the baby thinking that having access to food and being in a larger chain hotel they will be more prepared to help us with special requests related to little ones (crib, etc.)
Will air conditioning be necessary in April?
How well would Hotel Capitan or Hotel Arco Iris be able to accomodate a 14 month-old?
We like to get out and eat locally as compared to hotel restaurants only. We will be frustrated if we go to Barcelo and have to take a taxi every time?
Are there really long lines at every meal at Barcelo?
Thanks in advance!

Barcelo is far from town, really not walkable. I love Capitan Suizo, stayed there several times. It's just far enough that you're not in Tamarindo but still close enough to walk to! They can definitely accomodate young babies/children. You may need a/c in April but often times, the fan has provided enough cool air for me. Have fun!

Loved, Loved Hotel Capitan Suizo in the middle of May 2005. Haven't been back to CR since but would go back to Tamarindo mainly due to this hotel. We only needed the ceiling fan at night in the cabina. The hotel has air conditioning. The property is not too large and it is paradise!

Not sure where you are coming from but April in Tamarindo is pretty hot and humid so you'll probably want A/C. I agree with the comments above. Barcelo is nice but it's at the very end of Langosta and there are not many choices of restaurants in Langosta.
The Diria (www.tamarindodiria.com)is right downtown and if you are interested in condos, check out sunrise condominums which has a nice pool with a baby pool. Most management companies can help you out with a crib/special request. Try www.rpmvacationrentals.com.
