Dominical and Uvita Opinions
I'm going to CR in a few weeks and we plan to drive to the Dominical area for a few nights toward the end of our trip. What is the differnce between Dominical and Uvita? Which do you prefer? How much further south is Uvita? I saw hotel recommendations for Dominical anyone have a recommendation for Uvita also?
Thanks!

The Uvita area beaches are SO much more beautiful with the mountains rising behind them and many coconut palms along the shore.
Dominical is more built up and the beach is not spectacular. The waves and currents can be rough.
The drive to Uvita is not far from Dominical 15- 20 min? and the road was great last winter. Be aware the bridge between Manuel Antonio and Dominical is most likely out if you plan to travel that direction.
We stayed at Costa Paraiso but I don't recommend it unless you get one of the nicer cabins and don't need a nice beach close. The new owners are very nice and helpful though.
There is a very nice restaurant on a bluff before Uvita overlooking the coastline. Forgot the name but there is a good sign along the main hiway to exit into the driveway entrance. They serve great ceviche.

Hope so. Check with the locals before you leave Manuel Antonio to see what the conditions are for the river crossings. The bridge may have been rebuilt since the last time it was washed out or the crossing may be OK through low water.
Have a wonderful journey!

FYI to anyone reading this thread. I did the drive from Man Ant to Dominical and the bridge was in tact. Not even sure which bridge it was but althought the road was bumpy, all bridges were fine.

We had to drive through the river at the end of June. It was an experience! Everyone was getting out and walking out into the river to check the depth and best place to cross. Only in Costa Rica! Well, probably not, but at least in my experience!
In Dominical, Roca Verde has good food. And a great masseuse--Melissa.
Another good restaurant, La Parcela (or close to that spelling)!
We really enjoyed Playas Ventanas about 20-30 min south of Dominicalito. The natural tunnels at water's edge were interesting--and very photogenic! You park in someone's yard, pay them to watch your vehicle and walk to the beach a short distance. Definitely worth a stop!
