My husband and I will be in Cabo for the first time in Nov. and would like some input on fishing charters. Who has the best deals,who to aviod, and general experiences from those who know.

Line up your fishing charter through Victor's.
You can do this through The Presidente Hotel in
San Jose del Cabo or The Twin Dolphin in Cabo
San Lucas. Do know that the natives are ruin
ing the fishing by throwing Marlin on the
shore and dislike catch and release. Too bad.
Soon they will have nothing to catch. The
catch & release is hard on the fish after
fighting for hours to have it's picture taken
and barely able to swim to survive the fight.

Avoid Lux Tours. Although I researched on the Net and shopped around when we got there, we ended up on on a boat with three Mexicans who didn't speak English and who wouldn't let us fish. The sales guy on shore was great and really swindled us. Didn't ask for money right away, (which we liked) promised to match us up with another couple like ourselves to split the cost, which he did, let us a pick a boat (a nice one) but didn't put us on it when we arrived. They were catching marlin all around us and it was exciting. I guess the Marlin were the winners that day!

We too have not had good experiences fishing in Cabo. One time we went with the Solmar fleet; the other fleet name I can't remember. In both cases, the men on board spoke less-than-minimal English (or pretended). Also, they ALWAYS baited the hooks, cast the lines out, played the rods, hooked the fish, and pretty much reeled them in till the last few minutes. Then, the first year, they told me the rooster fish I caught was worthless and to throw it back, and with the dorado that my son-in-law had hooked, they were so blatantly careless about trying to land it that as they raised it out of the water, they let it bang against the boat enough times to get off the hook. The second year, it was the same with the Marlin that my husband caught. He did get to play with it a bit and reel it in, but again they were so careless about hooking it with the gaf (which we had to suggest using--they did not seem to have a plan for landing it!) that it too got off the hook and away! We had the distinct impression that they didn't want us to catch not KEEP any fish. Don't know if we'll ever try it again. Too much money for that kind of treatment!
