Costa Rica Los Suenos Marriott

Going to Los Suenos Marriott Ocean & Golf Resort first week of March. Looks like about 60 miles west of San Jose. Will not have a car. Any MUST SEE places or MUST EAT restaurants near the hotel? I assume there is taxi service. Are USD accepted at most places or will we have to deal with currency exchange? Thanks...1st time. Usually go to one of the islands so this will be a new adventure for us.

It's been a few years, but we had one of the best meals of our three trips to Costa Rica at El Galeon next to the Los Suenos Marina (about 1/3 mile from the hotel). It was a beautiful, open-air, waterfront restaurant and the food was amazing. Here's my blog entry about it:

Enjoy your trip...it's a beautiful resort!

There is a shuttle service at the Los Suenos resort that can take you from the condos to the hotel and to the marina where the restaurants are. There is also a little grocery store nearby that a taxi can take you to get groceries. If you need transportation from the airport to Los Suenos, you can contact Odyssey TOurs. THey do transfers as well as many different kinds of tours. We were there in November and had 2 wonderful tours with them. [email protected]. It is run by 2 brothers, Diego and Alvaro. There is also a great beachfront restaurant very near the resort. Steve and Lisa's or something like that. Alvaro will know, he took us there. Have fun!

the Hotel provides a shuttle too! Or flight was delayed 4 hours landing and the driver waited patienty and we arrived safe but exhausted at our hotle at 3am.

You will find many fabulous restaurants at the Harbor which is in walking distance. We enjoyed all of them -
I dont beleive US currency was accepted - just the local currency. Also, the hotel provides many tours as well!

Have Fun!

10 minutes by taxi from Los Suenos is Herradura Beach or Playa Herradura. There you'll find Juanitas. If that seems expensive to you try the resaurant right beside it. The foods good in either place. As for all the open air places spray up with OFF. The mossies are present everywhere after sunset.
Enjoy!!!
