Cancun resort help!!!
We are planning a trip over Memorial Day weekend this year and would like to find a 3-4 star resort (good to great, but does not have to be the Ritz) in Cancun. European plan looks to be the way we are leaning to. My biggest concern would be the the resort's beach area. I have heard horror stories about seaweed, etc., so I am hestitant to book just any resort based on price alone. I need a moderately priced resort with a great beach and good rooms, etc.
Any help and info will be greatly appreciated!!!

I agree with Frankie on the Hilton and Fiesta Condesa. Any hotel along the central to southern end of the hotel zone will have a great beach. The waves can be greater than those at the northern end if that's a consideration.

The beaches in Cancun, particularily those on the southern end of the hotel zone, have spectacular beaches without any seaweed, shells, or fish. The sand is powder soft white and the water the most amazing hues of clear, aqua, and blue. South of Cancun can have seaweed horror stories; not in Cancun itself. Stay on the Caribbean side of Cancun, not the northern Gulf of Mexico side. Much nicer beaches.

hilton is good, also enjoyed the Royal Sands, beautiful rooms and great pool. excellent beach. the Camino Real is pleasant and its right on the tip of the island, so its surrounded by beach and water on three sides. location not bad but hotel itself is a little confusing to navigate. I hear the Royal Solaris is nice, but I believe they only do allinclusive.
Dont stay at the Gran Melia.. most of the hotel is basically a vine-covered greenhouse. sure its beautiful, but in the carribean sun and humidity, youre not looking for a single thing to add to it. NO ac in lobby, bars, restaurants shops etc except in guest rooms. ickkk

Agree with those recommending Condesa. It just looks nice. Stayed at Omni 2 years ago. That was a nice, reasonably priced resort. Good location. Same area as Condesa. I would stay away from hotels around closer to the point (Krystal, Camino Real) because the beaches are narrower and have more interruptions. Like the others said, mid to south is best.

Le Meredian has a large, flat, uncrowded beach area. We have stayed at some resorts where you are going downhill to the water and climbing uphill to get back to your hotel. Le Meredian is the best beach we have encountered in Cancun.
