Advice about Cabo

We're thinking of going to Cabo in February. Is it warm enough at that time of year?

And what's the best hotel? Our ideal hotel has a great beach where you can snorkel, plus the usuals like clean rooms, attractive setting, good food choices etc.

We just got back from Cabo! I've only gone in August and October, so I can tell you it gets mighty hot there. I hear it's wonderful in February and I don't think you will have any difficulty with the weather at that time. I can recommend the Melia chain in Cabo. We stayed at the Melia San Lucas in Cabo San Lucas, and weren't disappointed at all. It's a five star resort and they have everything imaginable and available right from the lobby. The food is EXTRAORDINARY, especially the morning buffet available from 6am to 1pm. The open air setting looks out onto Lands End and the views are spectacular. There is also a very nice restaurant overlooking the Sea of Cortez which has a different theme for dinner every night (Fiesta night, Seafood night, etc.) Although the hotel is located on the beach, the snorkeling I did was mostly of sand, although I did stumble onto some gorgeous schools of fish further out. It's mostly for waverunners and watertaxis. However, we visited the other Melia hotel, the Melia Cabo Real in San Jose del Cabo. It is much larger and more sedate than the Melia San Lucas. It has a gorgeous pool and a wonderful view of the sea, and it's own snorkeling area. I didn't venture down there, but many were having a great time playing in the cove below the hotel. I highly recommend Cabo San Lucas, but it has become overcommercialized since I first fell in love with the city. I am still going to return, but if the city continues this way I feel it was will deter against returning visitors who remember the lazy, kick-back, small town feeling it had years ago.

Went to Cabo a few years ago, on the whole the beaches and current are very strong--look for place with protected beach and pool---

In June my husband & I went to Cabo for our one year anniversary, & fell in love with the place. We stayed at the finest most luxurious hotel I've ever seen, The Hotel Palmilla. I cannot say enough good things about it. It's between Cabo San Lucas & San Jose Del cabo in the "corridor" area, and is where Bing Crosby, John Wayne and other famous folks stayed in the 1950's. The rooms, infinity pool, service and food are outstanding. It's the type of place where everyone knows your name, with white stucco walls & flowers everyone. It's almost like a quaint Mexican village, and sits right on a beautiful beach. The only drawback is it is expensive, but your query did not indicate your price range. We are definitely not extravagant travelers, but loved this place so much we are saving up our money to go back--It's worth every penny! Have fun

We too fell in love with Cabo several years back. We now have places of our own there right in town. You can walk anywhere you need to go. We are just up from the safe swimming beach at the Bahia Hotel. We have a penthouse there that we just remodeled. It has a 360 degree view: Land's End, city and mountains. A large sundeck and wrap around balcony. 200' up from the Office restaurant. It is a three bedroom, two bath, two kitchens or can be rented seperately as a one bedroom or two bedroom. Let me know if you are interested. Price for the whole thing is $300 or $150/$175 respectively. You can also check out Cabo Villas which is on the next block. 'pscmex.com'. It is an intimate 9 unit villa with two pools jacuzzi etc.
February is a great time. Warm and sunny in the daytime, cools down nicely in the evenings. You may need a very lightweight jacket. Hope to hear from you.
