adult only policy question

adult only policy question
I am *trying* to plan a group family vacation over Christmas for my family and my husband's. Our group will be made up of one grandmother (80), 4 parents (in their 60s), 3 adult children (in late 20s) and one 17 year old, who is very mature for his age. The brand-new Secrets Capri AI seems to fit the bill exactly for what everyone wants, including price. My question is, as this is an "adult only" hotel, what is the policy exactly? Do they NEVER allow anyone under 18? Or is it more a guideline to describe the atmosphere, typical clientele, etc. ?
Any light you could shine on this would be VERY appreciated. Other hotel options would be welcomed too. THANKS.

I am assuming by "mature" you mean he LOOKS over 17.With that large a group,it would be very unusual for anything whatsoever to be said upon check in.If in appearance he is mature,then there should be no problem.This is a new resort and they are going to great lengths to make a "splash".My guess would be they will want to avoid any problems,confrontations,etc.

Thanks so much for your replies!! My travel agent wasn't much help at all on this issue. Would you advise just booking him as an 18 year old -- or asking ahead of time? He is mature both in apperance and behavior. . .Thanks again!

If it is an adult only or adult oriented,they are not going to require age identification.I can't imagine the front desk asking for ID.But I would look for another travel agent if they couldnt help you with this one.Could they not even offer to make a simple fone call??

I would imagine that he is close enough to the cut off age that it technically won't be a problem. But ask yourself this: will he be happy with no one his age around??? If he plans to hang around with you the entire time, then there is no problem. If he wants some young people to hang with, there won't be any. There may be a few people a little older than him, but they will be old enough to go clubbing, drinking, partying..is this the type of company you want him with???

I think "adults-only" may be over 16. When I went to the Royal Hideaway and the Aventura Palace, the cut-off age was 16 for both of those places. Also, there were guests (very few but still there) who brought children under 16. In the Royal Hideaway there were two Italian couples with kids and another couple who was getting married there, brought their children. Its not supposed to happen, but it does happen.
