Should we pay our departure tax when we ARRIVE at the airport (SJO)? If so where do we pay that at ??
we are staying in a villa at Los Suenos and it has no internet hook-up....does Los Suenos have a wireless "hot spot" anywhere on property ??
I am still needing to know how many bottles of wine that I can vbring with me ?? any help ?
Have a GREAT DAY !!

No clue on the wine, but yes, you CAN pay your tax when you arrive. I've always been afraid I'd lose the paper while traveling around, but it would be handy to have that done at the end. I'm just in such a stew to GET OUT OF THE AIRPORT AND ON MY WAY!!! when we arrive. And getting the exit tax paid has never seemed to be much of a hassle upon departure. Last time we left, one of the employees took our bags, helped fill out our forms, and just generally made the whole process very simple. We'd never had anyone assist us like that before, and it was great!

Isn't the real issue these days not what the destination country lets you bring in, but what airport security lets you carry with you? If you're flying from the U.S., you would have to pack wine in checked baggage. Isn't that a big risk of breakage?

hello danny young
see my post " Provisions.... requesting where to stop for wine, cokes, etc. on way to hotel....
Check departing airport(S) about carry on wine. They all differ..... even in this day and age. A real surprise. But don't take much, or you'll be drinking at security if the guards and rules change at that given moment. Fun, to some extent, and then well, you know the rest.

I'm sure you could pay it when you arrive. There is a little desk (at the SJO airport) across from the ticket counters and near the front doors. If you are exiting the airport its all the way on the left. You have to keep the piece of paper the whole time though. It's real easy to pay when you leave - there wasn't even a line when we did it last week. Not sure why you would want to pay it when you arrive.
