Where else can I use minimal frequent flyer miles ....then stay at an all-inclusive 5 star resort relaxing on the beach sipping a pina colada for only $1,000 for my husband and I???? Playa Del Carmen is an awesome location!

I am a Canadian ex-pat now residing permanently in Mexico. Born in South Africa. Just love Mexico. Figure I can live here for 50 years and travel all over Mexico and still not see it all because it is so varied. Live in Queretaro as it is not as humid as the coastal cities. Yes, Canadians do have the reputation of being cheap here, but I understand that given the exchange rate on the dollar. Americans (gringos) also have a reputation of at times being boorish, loud and obnoxious. Specially when they think that the Mexicans should be speaking to them in English. Sheesh guys, you are visitors here, and remember, the way you give is the way you receive. And I am not just talking about money here! Come on down and enjoy this wonderful and very varied country. Don't always go to the coast. There are a lot of great places inland. Don't try and order the food you eat at home. Experiment. The locals eat it and don't die. Don't try and order eggs over easy. That is a foreign concept to the Mexican cooks. If you do manage to get them to flip the eggs, don't be surprised if hockey pucks are placed on your plate. Could go on, but that is enough.

To Cj

I found really cheap airfare through a travel agency at http://www.miboleto.com apparently they specialize in discount airfares to Mexico. And the service was great!

I love Mexico and will continue to go back there every time I can.

I have been to many places, beaches on a lot of places including Hawaii but there is something to mexican beaches that you just can't get anywere else.

Mexico is beautiful, land, scenery and ocean-wise, but what keeps me coming back are the Mexican people. They smile, take the time to make conversation, find things that we have in common, look for the humor in life and are patient no matter how badly I butcher their language.

Mexico has figured outwhat American's like. It has a selection of nice hotels, generally nice beaches, a different atmosphere and most important it is cheaper than most other destinations. Unfortunately, it is running out og quaint.

After 3 years, this topic that I started on 2000 continues live. It is clear that mexican beaches and people are one of the best of the world.

there is just something so relaxing about Mexico. Maybe it's the slower pace of life. It just seems to calm us down and revitalize us when we go. Wish I could go every year!! So far, I've been to Cabo, Puerto vallarta and Cancun, and loved Puerto Vallarta and Cancun. Wouldn't return to Cabo...

The answer us obvious: for much of North America, Mexico is the closest warm-weather vacation (especially during the winter).

For many of us, it is closer(and often cheaper) than Hawaii or Florida, and offers a little taste of a foreign culture. Although we'd love, to visit other countries, it is just too far, and sometimes not as safe with young children, plus their are not as many direct flights!

Hmmm . . . kind of like how the US board could sometimes be renamed the HAWAII board?

If you don't like it, go find another forum devoted to Belize, Costa Rica, etc. Easy.
