Where to stay in CDMX

We have a two night layover in Mexico City after returning from Morelia. We are taking a plane to Oaxaca. Do we stay close to the airport? Thinking of staying in San Angel although we won’t have a lot of time. Any suggestions?
Gracias

The immediate area around the airport is pretty bleak and probably only good for a late night arrival with an early next day departure. San Ángel would be fine just to chill out and rest up for the next leg of your trip. So too Roma Norte or Condesa. Centro histórico too. All good options. Roma/Condesa has more dining/drinking/coffee choices and is a tad closer to the airport.

We stayed in Roma Norte for our first week in the city and loved it. Nice area, lots of decent restaurants and bars around so a nice place in which to wander at night. Reasonably for getting around other parts of the city by subway/bus. uber to the airport was very easy and quite quick.

If this is the only time you are spending in the city then the Centro Historico May make more sense as you could easily fill a couple,of days just walking to the various sights around the Zoacalo.

San Angel/Coyacan was very pleasant when we visited on a weekend and may be a good idea if you want to visit Frida Kahlo’s house etc.
