I doubt we'll hear from any Houston area friends in the foreseeable future. Houston is completely w/o power and there's not much hope it will be restored in the next few days. I talked to my Dad in Houston this morning and they are thinking of coming to visit us here in Austin until things are more normal in Houston. But leaving town presents another problem as so many trees are down, it's hard to get in and out of the city.

If I see volcanogirl on another thread I'll tell her to give you a shout.

Ditto the concerns for VG. Living on the Atlantic coast of Florida, I've been through a few hurricanes and it's <i>not</i> a particularly good time! We've always stayed safe and my house has luckily always come through unscathed, but I know how frustrating it is even to just be without electricity for several days.

I hope all is well with you, VG!

Thanks for telling volcanogirl, how badly I wanted to come to Houston to rescue her.

There were no flights coming into Houston...and by the time I would have arrived..... I am sure hipvirgochick would have attempted some airlift aid for her.!!!!

Percy, thanks for offering to come rescue me; you are my hero!! We did have a tree across the road on our street, but all the good neighbors put their chainsaws to work. Ike did a real number on us. We have lots of trees down and one on the garage, but everyone is okay, and that's what counts. Now if only I could get my power back at home, so I could get my fodors fix in! Thank you for all your good thoughts and prayers, they did the trick!
