I was listening to the radio the day it happened and they teased that "One of Central America's most active volcanoes has erupted"..they didn't even say which country!

I think that the transfer bus that took us up to Antigua for the day from the cruise port pointed out this volcano. The You Tube clips that I found yesterday were horrifying.

We were at a covered flea market at Coaba Organic farm on the eastern side of Antigua when it happened. Since there was a lot of music and activity going on, nobody was aware of what was happening. When we left, our cars were covered with over 1/4" of mud, ash, grit. Slow driving home through Antigua and residents were out with garden hoses spraying water on the windshields of cars as they slowly drove by. We live on the other side of the mountain on the northern side of the Panchoy Valley, so all we got was a layer of ash. Now they are predicting the flow from the eruption could flow as far as Esquintla to the south. Most of the villages destroyed are on the far side of the volcano, not the Antigua side.
