tulum beach cabana
We are going to Tulum this december. We are thinking of renting a cabana at Cabanas Tulum on the beach next to Ana y Jose. Is anyone familiar with Cabana Tulum? What is the food like? What are the accomadations like. Thanks

The photos on hotelstulum.com are the most I've seen:

The place is built solid with cement walls and floors - some places in Tulum are nothing more than stick walls and sand floors. There is aceiling fan, but most likely, you won't need it in Dec.
Never ate there, but looked at the menu - inexpensive regular Mexican food. Ana y Jose is close - you can eat there when you get bored of Cabanas Tulum.
Hope you make your reservation soon. Most of Tulum's most wanted hotels are already booked for the holidays.

I got back from Any y Jose September 5th. It was delightful. I walked to Cabanas Tulum which was towards the ruins. I would stay there next time I go. They have a really nice little lagoon type inlet in front. The beach is very nice. You can walk to Ana y Jose for a good meal and also the other direction is beach restaurant (I don't know the name). They were hosting a wedding when we were there. But it started to rain so we didn't wait for the Bride to appear. The rain was short lived so I heard the next day that everyone was happy. This area is just delightful. However, don't know what is in store after Wilma. You best email the cabana's. Good Luck

Blondlady - Sounds like you are describing Maya Tulum; not Cabanas Tulum.
Cabanas Tulum is the next property to the south of Ana y Jose. If you are standing facing the pool with the restaurant behind your back - you are looking through the fence at Cabanas Tulum.

Hi Pepper, you could be correct. But I was walking on the beach going towards the ruins, and I met a lady who said she was staying at Cabanas Tulum. We were in front of them. It was really nice. On the road, I did see a sign "Cabanas Tulum." However, my girlfriend said she stayed at Cabanas Tulum and they were right next door to Ana y Jose (as you are saying). So I don't know -- I was on the beach looking at the restaurant and went to my right. There are some large rocks out in the ocean that made a nice inlet in front of these cabanas. My friend liked Cabanas Tulum. And you can't go wrong with food with Ana y Jose so close.
